Mushroom growth is driven by soil temperature and moisture. MushroomsDB maps those conditions across the US and Canada so you can time your forays when fruiting is most likely.

Instead of relying on last year's memory or a lucky Reddit post, Mushrooms DB gives you measurable environmental signals that correlate with fruiting activity.
The most important factor for fruiting. Soil temperatures at 2" and 4" depth across the region using SNOTEL and weather station data.
Recent precipitation and soil moisture indices help identify areas with enough moisture for active fruiting conditions.
Montana's diverse elevation means mushroom season moves up the mountain all summer — track the optimal window by band.
Morels in spring, chanterelles in summer, boletes in late summer — species-specific calendars calibrated to Western US & Canada timing.
Post-fire morel flushes are legendary in Montana. We track recent burn boundaries and soil recovery conditions.
Soil temperature, moisture, and historical fruiting windows combined into a single forage potential score by region.
Species Guide
The Western US & Canada support some of the most productive wild mushroom habitat in North America. These are the species Mushrooms DB will be optimized to track.
April–June. Soil temps 50–60°F. Found near elk, cottonwood, and in burn areas. The most prized spring mushroom in the Rockies.
July–September. Moist conifer forests above 4,000 ft. One of the most delicious and reliably harvestable species in the region.
August–October. Spruce and fir associations at high elevation. Highly prized and worth the hike to find them.
Summer through fall. Large bracket fungus on dead or dying hardwoods. Easy to identify and excellent eating.
